Memes 'excluded' It was Article 13 which prompted fears over the future of memes and GIFs - stills, animated or short video clips that go viral - since they mainly rely on copyrighted scenes from TV and film. Critics claimed Article 13 would have made it nearly impossible to upload even the tiniest part of a copyrighted work to Facebook, YouTube, or any other site. However, specific tweaks to the law made earlier this year made memes safe "for purposes of quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody and pastiche". (Copied from a dude who said it better than I ever could)

Question for my EU friends, have they done any polling on how people in general feel about this stupidity?

Crystal Ash

Yes, this is democracy. When almost every citizen is AGAINST it but the parliament votes FOR it. Good job.

I know that I might be in minority but I can at least see one positive about it, To be clear from what I understand is that those articles can make sites like facebook or youtube unaccesable for me because Youtube will be afraid that they might lose money for copyrights (shortened version) The positive is small and hard earned but positive. They will have to lay low for some time if it fails. I know that some might ask "why do you say if ?". Well there is always a scenario where they take Stalin's approach to many problems (you know if there is no one opposing there is no problem). And this articles sound in my ears at least like sneaky try to censor the internet (or at least they can be used to do it).

I think 99% of idiots here don't understand that article at all, in fact, I think they never read it.

Google: if you pass article 17 we are going to have to block all of you EU: Passes Article 17 Google: begins to block all EU EU: Shocked Pikachu face i love my country, merica

Funny enough, trump has shown almost no inclination to silence speech. Yes, he attacks press he doesn't like but he's not like the predictable liberal media that wants all disagreeable speech silenced. Odd choice to use him for this point.

Eurofags have 2 years to prevent it from becoming law

Memes were Banned yet somehow I can still see all of them on ... Makes you think...

Shari Crimmins

People all joke and laugh about memes right now, But we will soo who's laughin in 2-3 years when the effect of this shit really starts, and porn site after porn site start go out of business cause they have no content and they can't survive withou the european population they had to ban

Dawn Johnson

It was a treaty with france so they accept "Nordstream" pipeline. Fucking money
